Sabotage behind refinery blast?<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of
\nsabotage in last Monday's explosion at a Pertamina refinery in
\nBalikpapan, East Kalimantan.<\/p>\n
Supt. Faah Sumarno, spokesman for the East Kalimantan Police,
\nwas quoted by Antara as saying that an investigation by a
\nforensic team from the National Police headquarters had concluded
\nthat the blast was accidental.<\/p>\n
The news agency, however, gave no detailed explanation.<\/p>\n
The explosion and following fire injured two workers and cut
\nthe refinery's output from 265,000 barrels to 245,000 barrels per
\nday.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, Mines and Energy Minister Susilo
\nBambang Yudhoyono requested security authorities to investigate
\nthe possibility of sabotage.<\/p>\n
Pertamina spokesman F.F. Welan was quoted as saying that the
\nexplosion was caused by a leak in one of the refinery's pipes.<\/p>\n
Officials said that the oil refinery resumed operation on
\nTuesday, although at only 65 percent of its capacity.<\/p>\n
The hydroskimming unit of the refinery was built in 1982 and
\nstarted operation in 1984.<\/p>\n
Pertamina inspects the unit every two years. The last check
