Korea urged not to expel RI workers<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Manpower and Transmigration Minister Jacob Nuwa Wea <br>\nurged South Korea on Monday not expel Indonesians working <br>\nillegally in Korea in the same way Malaysia did.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the media after witnessing the signing of an <br>\nagreement with PT Unilever, the minister said the government had <br>\nset aside Rp 5.8 billion to repatriate about 55,000 illegal <br>\nIndonesian workers employed overseas.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 8,531 of these workers are employed in South Korea and <br>\nthe local government has given them until March 2003 to return to <br>\nIndonesia or face deportation.<\/p>\n<p>They became illegal workers in South Korea before completing <br>\ntheir work contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan <br>\nWirayudha said after a meeting with his South Korean counterpart, <br>\nChoi Sung Hong, that the Indonesian government had been <br>\ncoordinating closely with South Korea to seek the best solution <br>\nto the problem of illegal workers.<\/p>\n<p>The government has also contacted South Korean employers to <br>\nreport the presence of illegal Indonesian workers to the <br>\nIndonesian Embassy.<\/p>\n<p>Wirayudha said the government did not want to see the illegal <br>\nIndonesian workers in South Korea meet the same fate as their <br>\nfellows in Malaysia, who were deported. --Antara<\/p>\n<p>;JP;ANTARA;<br>\nANPAa..r..<br>\nItaly-warning-revoke<br>\nItaly revokes travel warning<br>\nJP\/4\/SCENE<\/p>\n<p>Italy downgrades travel advisory<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The Italian government has downgraded its travel <br>\nadvisory to visit Indonesia, which it issued following last <br>\nmonth&apos;s Bali bombing in Legian, Kuta.<\/p>\n<p>Italian Ambassador to Indonesia Francesco M.
