Presidential aide Yury Ushakov\ntold media that Putin and Trump held a \u2018frank\u2019 discussion lasting one\nhour and 25 minutes, which was \u2018professional and very constructive\u2019,\ncovering current bilateral and international issues. Ushakov said Putin\nand Trump discussed the topic of resolving the Russia-Ukraine war,\nparticularly in light of Trump\u2019s participation in the upcoming NATO\nsummit in Ankara, Turkey, on 7-8 July. \u2018The US President reaffirmed his\nwillingness to facilitate a swift end to hostilities and the search for\na peaceful solution to the crisis,\u2019 Ushakov said. He also noted that US\nSpecial Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump\u2019s son-in-law Jared Kushner would\ncontinue their mediation efforts and were ready to visit Moscow at an\nappropriate time. Ushakov further stated that Trump stressed during the\ncall the need to end the war with Ukraine \u2018as soon as possible\u2019 to\nrealise the potential for bilateral economic cooperation. Putin accused\nUkraine and European countries of \u2018betting on the prolongation and even\nescalation of the conflict,\u2019 he added, noting that the Russian president\ngave Trump a \u2018realistic\u2019 assessment of the situation. Regarding the\nsituation surrounding Iran, Ushakov said Putin expressed hope that the\nnegotiation process based on the memorandum of understanding between the\nUS and Iran would lead to \u2018a mutually acceptable long-term solution to\nkey settlement issues.\u2019 \u2018Putin reaffirmed his country\u2019s readiness to\nprovide practical assistance to efforts to de-escalate and stabilise the\nsituation in the region,\u2019 Ushakov said, adding that Trump thanked his\ncounterpart for Russia\u2019s \u2018balanced position and constructive proposals.\u2019\nEarlier on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced\nthat he had held a phone call with Trump, during which he said they\ndiscussed the situation on the front lines with Russia, as well as\ndiplomatic efforts. \u2018There is a real prospect of ending this war, and\nAmerican determination is absolutely crucial.
