        "content": "<p>The Russian government has strongly condemned the United States,\ntogether with its ally Israel, for launching a military strike against\nIran. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the war could instead trigger\nthe emergence of forces in Iran that support obtaining a nuclear\nbomb.<\/p>\n<p>Lavrov said in a press conference on Tuesday (3\/3 local time) that\nthe logical consequence of the actions of the US and Israel is that\n\u2018power will emerge in Iran\u2026 that will support doing exactly what the\nUnited States wants to be avoided - acquiring a nuclear bomb\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Because the US does not attack those who possess nuclear bombs,\u2019\nLavrov said, quoted by Al-Jazeera, on Wednesday (4\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Lavrov also said that Arab states may now join in a race to acquire\nnuclear weapons, given recent days\u2019 experiences and the \u2018nuclear\nproliferation problem will begin to get out of control\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Israel is widely regarded as the only nuclear-armed state in the\nMiddle East, whose status has neither been confirmed nor denied.<\/p>\n<p>Lavrov said the aim of starting war to prevent nuclear proliferation\ncould have the opposite effect.<\/p>\n<p>Lavrov spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday,\nand said that Russia is ready to help find a diplomatic solution to the\nconflict.<\/p>\n<p>When the US and Israel launched their first strikes on Iran last\nSaturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused the two countries of\n\u2018aggressive, planned actions without provocation against a sovereign and\nindependent UN member state\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Both countries have hidden their true intent to topple the Tehran\nregime \u2018under the pretext\u2019 of negotiations to normalise relations with\nIran, the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The US and Israel are rapidly leading the region toward\nhumanitarian, economic disaster, and even the potential for radiological\ncatastrophe,\u2019 the ministry warned.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Responsibility for the negative consequences of this man-made\ncrisis, including cascading unpredictable reactions and rising violence,\nlies entirely with them,\u2019 the statement added.<\/p>",
