        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The rupiah exchange rate weakened again and\nbreached a new psychological level above Rp 17,600 per US dollar during\nFriday morning\u2019s trading (15\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Based on monitoring on the Google Finance platform at 09:03 WIB, the\nrate of 1 US dollar was recorded at Rp 17,603.20. This movement is\nevident from Morningstar data displayed on Google Finance. On the\nBloomberg platform, the rupiah is also still moving in a weakening trend\nagainst the US dollar.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the rupiah closed at Rp 17,529 per US dollar in the last\ntrading session. Meanwhile, at the opening of trading today, the rupiah\nmoved in the range of Rp 17,540 to Rp 17,550 per US dollar before\nfinally breaching the Rp 17,600 per US dollar level.<\/p>\n<p>Pressure on the rupiah occurred amid global US dollar strengthening,\nrising world oil prices, and increasing risk-off sentiment in financial\nmarkets due to Middle East geopolitical conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>In agreement, Chief Analyst at Doo Financial Futures, Lukman Leong,\nsaid that the rise in world crude oil prices and global market sentiment\nare still weighing on regional currencies, including the rupiah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rupiah and regional currencies are observed to weaken\nsignificantly against the US dollar due to the renewed rise in world\ncrude oil prices,\u201d said Lukman Leong, quoted from Kompas.com, Tuesday\n(12\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Reuters also reported that the rupiah once touched a new all-time low\nat Rp 17,535 per US dollar due to the surge in oil prices and investor\nconcerns over Indonesia\u2019s fiscal condition.<\/p>",
