        "content": "<p>The rupiah exchange rate weakened at Thursday\u2019s close, falling 45\npoints or 0.25 percent to Rp17,989 per US dollar from the previous\nRp17,944 per US dollar.<\/p>\n<p>Analyst Rully Nova of Bank Woori Saudara stated that the rupiah\u2019s\ndepreciation was driven by the escalating conflict between the United\nStates, Israel, and Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rupiah\u2019s weakening in today\u2019s trading was influenced by global\nrisk factors, specifically the increased geopolitical escalation\ninvolving the US, Israel, and Iran,\u201d he said in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Citing Anadolu, southern Iran was the target of the latest series of\nUS attacks, with blasts and airstrikes reported in the Kargan area of\nMinab City. Explosions were also heard in Bandar Abbas, while Iranian\nmedia reported detonations and active air defence systems in the Jask,\nQeshm and Sirik areas of Hormozgan Province.<\/p>\n<p>The development followed a statement from US Central Command\n(CENTCOM) that American forces had conducted a series of additional\n\u201cself-defence\u201d strikes against targets in Iran. CENTCOM said the strikes\nwere carried out under direct instructions from US President Donald\nTrump in response to what they described as Iran\u2019s \u201ccontinued\naggression\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that 18 US\nmilitary asset points in Kuwait and Bahrain had been targeted amid the\nrenewed escalation in regional tensions. The IRGC listed among its\ntargets the Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al Jaber air bases in Kuwait, as well\nas the Sheikh Isa air base in Bahrain.<\/p>\n<p>Further sentiment came from declining market appetite for government\nbonds, which pushed yields higher. \u201cThe 10-year yield rose 10 bps to\n7.45 percent, the 8-year rose 17 bps to 7.46 percent, and the 5-year\ntenor gained 2 bps to 7.47 percent,\u201d Rully revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Bank Indonesia\u2019s Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (JISDOR) also\nmoved weaker to the level of Rp17,981 per US dollar, from Rp17,971 per\nUS dollar previously.<\/p>",
