        "content": "<p>The Rupiah exchange rate came under pressure again at the start of\ntrading on Tuesday (22\/09\/2026). The \u2018Garuda\u2019 currency opened weaker\nagainst the US Dollar, continuing the decline seen in the previous\nsession.<\/p>\n<p>According to Refinitiv data, the Rupiah opened at Rp17,860\/US<span class=\"math inline\">,\u2006<em>r<\/em><em>e<\/em><em>p<\/em><em>r<\/em><em>e<\/em><em>s<\/em><em>e<\/em><em>n<\/em><em>t<\/em><em>i<\/em><em>n<\/em><em>g<\/em><em>a<\/em>0.20<\/span>\nafter weakening by 0.56%.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the strength of\nthe greenback against six major world currencies, was observed to be\nstagnant at 100.425 as of 0.90:00 WIB. The DXY held this level after\ngaining 0.21% in the previous trading session.<\/p>\n<p>The Rupiah\u2019s movement today is expected to be influenced by both\ndomestic and international sentiments. In the domestic market, attention\nis focused on the Bank Indonesia (BI) Board of Governors Meeting (RDG),\nwhich commenced today and will run until Wednesday (23\/09\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The decision regarding the benchmark interest rate, or BI Rate, is\nscheduled to be announced tomorrow. This announcement will be the first\nfor Destry Damayanti since her inauguration as the definitive Governor\nof Bank Indonesia on 2 September.<\/p>\n<p>Based on market consensus, BI is expected to maintain the BI Rate at\nthe 5.75% level. The deposit facility and lending facility rates are\nalso expected to remain unchanged at 4.75% and 6.5%, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>During the August RDG, BI maintained the benchmark interest rate at\n5.75%. Destry, who was serving as the Acting Governor of BI at that\ntime, stated that the decision was in line with efforts to maintain\nRupiah stability amidst global volatility, keep inflation within the\ntarget of 2.5\u00b11%, and support economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>Externally, the US Dollar continues to receive support after the\nFederal Reserve (The Fed) raised interest rates and signalled the\npossibility of further tightening. According to CME FedWatch, the market\nis pricing in approximately a 55% probability that The Fed will raise\ninterest rates again in October, up from around 43% a week ago.<\/p>",
