        "content": "<p>The rupiah opened stronger on Monday (25 May 2026), gaining 21 pips\nor 0.12% to Rp17,696 against the US dollar, compared to the previous\nclose of Rp17,717 per dollar. Doo Financial Futures currency analyst\nLukman Leong attributed the rupiah\u2019s strength to hopes of a US-Iran\npeace deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rupiah is expected to strengthen against the US dollar due to\nMiddle East peace prospects and falling global oil prices in response to\nUS President Donald Trump\u2019s statement that negotiations with Iran are\nprogressing constructively,\u201d he said in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting Anadolu, Trump confirmed that an agreement to end the war\nwith Iran has been \u201clargely negotiated\u201d and will be finalised soon. He\nadded that he had discussed the draft agreement through \u201cexcellent\u201d\ncommunication with regional leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Washington and Tehran continue to negotiate proposed terms and\ncounterproposals via Pakistan\u2019s mediation, covering the reopening of the\nStrait of Hormuz, addressing concerns over Iran\u2019s nuclear programme, and\nlifting sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>Domestic sentiment improved since Friday (22 May), with equity\nmarkets closing positively. \u201cHowever, the rupiah remains under pressure\nfollowing a large current account deficit,\u201d Lukman noted.<\/p>\n<p>Based on these factors, the rupiah is forecast to trade between\nRp17,600 and Rp17,750 per dollar.<\/p>",
