Rumini to receive bonus<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Central Java chapter of the Indonesian
\nAthletic Association will give a bonus to distance runner Rumini
\nSudragni from Salatiga, Central Java, who won the gold medal in
\nthe women's 10,000m with a new SEA Games record on Monday.<\/p>\n
\"We will definitely give a bonus to Rumini, who has
\nsuccessfully contributed the first gold medal in track and field
\nfor Indonesia. This has been a tradition for the association,\"
\nsaid Karseno, the chairman of the association, in Semarang
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
The 16-year-old girl from the Dragon athletic club in Salatiga
\nsurprised herself and her coach when she established the Games'
\nrecord in the 10,000 meters with a time of 35:21.43, running 7.4
\nseconds faster than the old record holder Mar Mar Min of Myanmar.<\/p>\n
Karseno was quoted by Antara as saying that Rumini will not
\nonly receive a bonus from the association but will also get
\nspecial treatment at school to compensate for the time she needed
\nto practice and participate in the Games.<\/p>\n
However, Karseno could not disclose the size of the bonus
\nbecause the association must also award other local athletes who
\nwin at the Games.<\/p>\n
\"Local gold earners will receive a bonus, but we have yet to
\ndecide the amount. Obviously it won't be as much as the Rp 25
\nmillion bonus promised by the National Sports Council,\" he said.
