Rudy beats national player in c'ship<\/p>\n
SEMARANG (JP): Former member of the national badminton center,
\nIgnatius Rudy, was the surprising winner over national second
\nstringer Yudi Suprayogi in the men's senior singles final of the
\n1999 national badminton championship at Jatidiri Stadium here on
\nSunday night.<\/p>\n
The Jakarta player's success earned him plaudits from the
\nBadminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) executive chairman
\nKarsono and PBSI training director Christian Hadinata.<\/p>\n
\"Rudy played amazingly. He defeated two members of the
\nbadminton center, Yudi, and Johan Hadikusuma in the semifinal. If
\nthe national players lost to a Jakarta player, what have the
\ncoaches done at the center? It's a slap in our face,\" Karsono
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Christian recommended that PBSI invite Rudy to rejoin the
\nnational center. \"Rudy should get priority to attend the center.
\nHe has good prospects.\"<\/p>\n
Rudy won 15-10, 7-15, 15-13.<\/p>\n
In the other duels between players from the badminton center,
\nNinik Masrikah beat Yuli Marfuah 13-10, 11-2 in the women's
\nsenior singles final. Vita Mariana\/Monas S. overcame Rosy\/Novita
\n17-14, 5-15, 15-5 for the women's double title, while Santosa\/
\nEnny won the mixed doubles title in a 12-15, 15-9, 15-9 victory
