Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announced that waste deliveries from\nJakarta to the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST)\nwould be restricted following a landslide in zone 4A due to severely\nlimited capacity.<\/p>\n
\u201cBantargebang must begin imposing restrictions because its capacity\nis severely limited. Whilst waiting for zone 4A to be restored, waste\ndeliveries will be redirected to zone 3 and two new zones currently\nbeing prepared as temporary locations,\u201d Pramono said in an official\nstatement on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Pramono made this announcement after conducting a direct inspection\nof the landslide site at TPST Bantargebang in Ciketing Udik Village,\nBantargebang District, Bekasi City, West Java. During the inspection,\nPramono also ordered the immediate normalisation of the Ciketing\nRiver.<\/p>\n
The river had been blocked by landslide materials, disrupting water\nflow and road access in the surrounding area. \u201cI have decided to\nimmediately normalise the Ciketing River. The benefits to residents are\nsubstantial, because if the river flow is blocked, road access in the\nsurrounding area is also hindered,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
TPST Bantargebang receives approximately 7,400 to 8,000 tonnes of\nwaste from Jakarta daily. As a result, the local government will also\npromote waste sorting to reduce the burden on the treatment\nfacility.<\/p>\n
As a medium-term solution, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is\npreparing the operational deployment of the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF)\nRorotan facility in North Jakarta. The facility is currently in the\ntesting and operational preparation stage with experts to ensure safe\nfunctioning and minimal impact on residents.<\/p>\n
Pramono targets the RDF Rorotan facility to help reduce approximately\n1,000 to 1,500 tonnes of waste per day from Jakarta. He hopes the\ncommissioning process will be completed soon so the facility can operate\nnormally.<\/p>\n
The landslide in zone 4A at TPST Bantargebang is believed to have\nbeen triggered by extreme rainfall on Sunday, 8 March 2026, with\nrainfall reaching 264 millimetres per day. The landslide material\nblocked the operational road and the Ciketing River for approximately 40\nmetres.<\/p>\n
The DKI Jakarta Environmental Affairs Service activated emergency\nresponse operations to handle casualties, stabilise the landslide area,\nand restore waste management services. The evacuation process was\nsupported by 19 excavators and seven ambulance units deployed to the\nlocation.<\/p>\n
The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) DKI Jakarta found\nthe body of another victim buried under the Bantargebang waste pile.\n\u201cOne body was found this afternoon, bringing the total to five people\nwho have died,\u201d said Romli Prasetyo, spokesperson for Basarnas DKI\nJakarta, on Monday.<\/p>\n
To date, rescue personnel continue to search for four additional\npeople believed to still be buried. \u201cSo far, four people have been\nrescued,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Basarnas DKI Jakarta reported that 13 people were victims of the\nwaste pile landslide. Four survivors were Budiman, Joha, Safifudin, and\nSlamet.<\/p>\n
The deceased victims were warung owner Enda Widayanti, warung owner\nSumine, truck drivers Dedi Sutrisno and Irwan Supriatin. \u201cPlus one\nadditional body that was just found by personnel.
