        "content": "<p>RP to get US$1.7b in WB loans<\/p>\n<p>MANILA: The World Bank has earmarked up to US$1.7 billion in<br>\nloans to the Philippines over the next three years, a bank<br>\nstatement received here said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The bank&apos;s executive board has approved a three-year<br>\nassistance strategy for the Philippines to &quot;re-establish a<br>\npattern of rapid and sustained poverty reduction,&quot; the statement<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The money would largely go to programs for improving access to<br>\nbasic services such as health, education, water, electricity, as<br>\nwell as credit facilities to help the poor improve their incomes,<br>\nthe statement said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;To support such initiatives, the World Bank plans to provide<br>\nabout $1 billion in loans to the Philippines over the next three<br>\nyears,&quot; the bank statement said.<\/p>\n<p>It added the figure reach $1.7 billion &quot;depending upon the<br>\npace of policy and institutional reforms.&quot; -- AFP<\/p>",
