RP seeks Israeli water know-how<\/p>\n
MANILA (AFP): The Philippines has called on Israel to help it
\nboost agriculture through using Israeli know-how in boosting
\nvital water resources.<\/p>\n
Philippine House Speaker Jose de Venecia urged his visiting
\nIsraeli counterpart Dan Tichon late Monday to work for a
\nPhilippine-Israeli joint venture to produce Israeli agricultural
\ntechnology in this country.<\/p>\n
\"Your success in making the desert bloom, in developing your
\nwater resources ... is a story mankind will never forget,\" de
\nVenecia said.<\/p>\n
He said such technology, particularly drip-irrigation
\npioneered by Israel, would be useful here, \"in the face of El
\nNio\" and the Philippines' continuing attempts to boost
\nagricultural productivity.<\/p>",
