        "content": "<p>RP repatriates 14 Chinese<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): The Philippines yesterday repatriated 14 Chinese<br>\nfishermen who were shipwrecked in the disputed Spratly chain last<br>\nmonth, Foreign Department officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The Hainan seafarers boarded a commercial flight for the<br>\nsoutheastern Chinese city of Xiamen and were seen off by a<br>\nChinese embassy official, Wang Haigao, department sources said.<\/p>\n<p>The hull of their boat ruptured off the Philippines-claimed<br>\nLikas (West York) island in the South China Sea on Oct. 25 and<br>\nwere rescued by the Philippine Navy.<\/p>\n<p>President Fidel Ramos ordered they be treated<br>\n\"compassionately\" since they were victims of a natural disaster.<br>\nManila detained 62 other Chinese poachers in the Spratlys last<br>\nMarch but Ramos pardoned all but four in September.<\/p>",
