        "content": "<p>RP joins watchdog group<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (UPI): The Philippines has joined an international<br>\nwatchdog group set up to stop market manipulation and illegal<br>\ndealings in stock exchanges in the region, officials said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The Philippines has been named one of the founding members of<br>\nthe Asia Pacific Market Surveillance Group, together with the<br>\nHong Kong Securities and Exchange Commission, the Thai Securities<br>\nand Exchange Commission and the Securities and Exchange<br>\nCommission of Taipei.<\/p>\n<p>A working committee, including the Philippine Securities and<br>\nExchange Commission, plans to submit a preliminary report to the<br>\ngroup&apos;s next meeting, scheduled to be held next year in Beijing.<br>\nAn initial report by the group has identified a number of<br>\noffenses widespread in the region, including market manipulation<br>\nand insider trading.<\/p>",
