Rp 700 million for students<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The European business community here has
\ncollected at least Rp 700 million which will be donated to
\nUniversity of Indonesia students who have been financially
\naffected by the economic crisis.<\/p>\n
Josef Fuchs, chairman of the organizing committee of the
\nStudent Support Festival, said the money was raised since mid
\nSeptember in seven charity events in Jakarta, Yogyakarta and
\nBali.<\/p>\n
\"The money will be used to support hundreds of Indonesian
\nstudents who are in danger of dropping out of university as an
\neffect of the ongoing monetary crisis,\" Fuchs said in a statement
\non Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He said the Austrian traditional music group Gainzl-Musig and
\nvarious traditional European foods and drinks were presented at
\nthe charity events, which were jointly sponsored by 28 foreign
\nand local companies.<\/p>\n
He said the charity event was officially opened by President
\nB.J. Habibie and witnessed by Austrian Ambassador to Indonesia
\nViktor Segalla on Sept. 19 at the Bandara Sheraton Hotel here.<\/p>\n
Fuchs said contributions were still welcome and could be
\ntransferred to Bank Bali account 0701022211. (jun)<\/p>",
