Roy Suryo Notodiprojo was reportedly arrested by Polda Metro Jaya\ninvestigators on Friday morning, 19 June 2026. The news was conveyed by\nthe Advocacy Team Against the Criminalisation of Academics and Activists\n(TA-AKAA), which has been assisting Roy Suryo throughout the legal\nprocess.<\/p>\n
According to the advocacy team, information about the arrest was\nreceived at around 07.00 WIB from Roy Suryo\u2019s wife. At almost the same\ntime, the legal team also received word that Tifauzia Tyassuma had\nlikewise been detained.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, Friday 19 June 2026, at approximately 07.00 WIB, our client\nRoy Suryo Notodiprojo was informed by his wife that he had been arrested\nby Polda Metro Jaya investigators,\u201d TA-AKAA wrote in its statement.<\/p>\n
The news was immediately met with a response from the legal team,\nwhich questioned the investigators\u2019 reasons for arresting Roy Suryo.<\/p>\n
Deemed Cooperative During the Investigation Process<\/p>\n
The advocacy team considers the arrest unnecessary, as Roy Suryo has\nreportedly always been cooperative in undergoing the legal process.\nAccording to them, Roy Suryo complied with summonses for questioning\nissued by investigators and routinely fulfilled his mandatory reporting\nobligations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe regret the actions of the Polda Metro Jaya investigators in\ncarrying out a coercive measure through the arrest of our client, even\nthough our client has been cooperative in complying with investigators\u2019\nsummonses and has even always carried out mandatory reporting,\u201d the\nlegal team stated.<\/p>\n
Highlighting Allegations That the Case File Is Complete<\/p>\n
TA-AKAA also addressed circulating information that Roy Suryo\u2019s case\nfile had been declared complete. If that is indeed the case, they argue\nthat investigators should simply have sent a summons letter for the\npurposes of the subsequent process. According to them, a summons\nmechanism is more appropriate than an arrest, given that Roy Suryo has\nnever absconded from the ongoing legal process.<\/p>\n
