Routine bomb sweep at AG office<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Following a series of bomb blasts and threats in
\nthe capital recently, the Attorney General's Office initiated on
\nTuesday a routine bomb sweep within the office compound, an
\nofficial said.<\/p>\n
"I admit that state offices are easy targets for bomb threats
\nand terrorism. But that doesn't mean that the sweep is being
\ncarried out in response to a threat," Acting Deputy Attorney
\nGeneral for career development affairs Soeparman Ahmad told The
\nJakarta Post at his office.<\/p>\n
He said he had yet to decide how frequently his office would
\nhold a sweeping operation.<\/p>\n
"It will likely be held monthly," he said.<\/p>\n
As of Tuesday evening, a police bomb squad and the office's
\nsecurity guards were still checking the compound, which is
\nlocated at the intersection of Jl. Sisingamangaraja in South
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
A strong explosive device severely damaged a lavatory on the
\nground floor of the office building of the Deputy Attorney
\nGeneral for special crimes on July 4, an hour after former
\npresident Soeharto's youngest son Hutomo Mandala Putra left. He
\nhad appeared for questioning as a witness in his father's alleged
\ngraft case.<\/p>\n
Another bomb, which did not explode, was found in a lavatory
\non the second floor of the same building. The bomb bore a
\nmilitary code.<\/p>\n
Separately, Deputy Attorney General for intelligence affairs
\nLt. Gen. (ret) Yusuf Kartanegara told the Post that his office
\nhad delegated the investigation of the bombing incident to the
