        "content": "<p>Three classrooms at SMKN 1 Ampelgading in Malang Regency collapsed\ndue to extreme weather and high rainfall on Saturday (28\/3) around 11.15\np.m. WIB. The East Java Education Office has assured that teaching and\nlearning activities (KBM) continue normally using alternative rooms.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the East Java Education Office, Aries Agung Paewai,\nstated that KBM is temporarily conducted in the school laboratory and\nhall until the renovation of the affected classrooms is completed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKBM continues using the available rooms, namely the laboratory and\nhall. We are also inventorying the needs for repairing the affected\nclassrooms,\u201d said Aries in Surabaya on Monday (30\/3).<\/p>\n<p>The three impacted classes are XI APHP 1, XI APHP 2, and XI APHP 3.\nThe damage is classified as severe because the entire roof collapsed,\nand most desks and chairs were also affected. Aries added that the\nrepairs are being carried out under the instructions of the East Java\nGovernor and are targeted to be completed within the next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder the directive of the Governor, we have been asked to take\nswift action to handle it so that the classrooms can be repaired quickly\nand reused for teaching and learning activities,\u201d said Aries.<\/p>\n<p>The Malang Regency BPBD team, along with local residents, has\nassisted in clearing building materials to enable renovations to begin\npromptly. Initial post-incident measures include sterilising the\nlocation, installing area barriers, and shutting off electricity around\nthe incident site.<\/p>\n<p>The roof collapse was triggered by high rainfall intensity that has\nbeen affecting Tirtomarto Village, Ampelgading Subdistrict, in recent\ndays. Tiles reportedly fell one by one before the galvalum-framed roof\nfully collapsed.<\/p>\n<p>The East Java Education Office will conduct further assessments on\nthe condition of other school buildings to prevent similar incidents.\nAries emphasised that assistance for repairing the damaged classrooms\nwill be submitted promptly.<\/p>\n<p>The office targets completing the renovation process within this\nmonth. He also explained that the Malang Regency BPBD team has directly\nassisted with the cleanup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also helped by local residents in a gotong royong effort to\nclear the materials so that repairs can be carried out soon,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to SMKN 1 Ampelgading, extreme weather also impacted SMAN\n1 Sumber in Probolinggo Regency on Friday (27\/3). A landslide occurred\non an empty plot beside the school, reaching about 8 metres in height\nand affecting an area 10\u201314 metres long. There were no casualties in\nthis incident.<\/p>\n<p>As an initial response, the school along with relevant agencies has\ncarried out emergency reinforcement using sandbags and installing tarps\nto reduce water infiltration and prevent potential follow-up\nlandslides.<\/p>",
