Robbers flee with cash, jewelry<\/p>\n
MEDAN, North Sumatra: Unidentified armed men broke into a
\nhouse of a resident of Jl. Ade Irma Suryani in Pematang Siantar
\nregency on Tuesday morning and stole hundreds of millions of
\nrupiah and jewelry after overwhelming the housemaid.<\/p>\n
The owner of the house, Surya Alatas, also known as Aliang, is
\nan advisor to the local office of the Pemuda Pancasila youth
\norganization.<\/p>\n
The maid, identified as Ponise, said the five members of the
\ngang were armed with handguns, a sickle and a crowbar.<\/p>\n
Witnesses said they saw a black Isuzu Panther van frequenting
\nthe area before the robbery.<\/p>\n
Soon after the owner left the house to take his children to
\nschool, the van stopped and the passengers \"raided\" the house.<\/p>\n
Locals said they had no idea that the passengers of the van
\nwere criminals.<\/p>\n
Medan Police deputy chief of detectives, First. Insp. A.E.
\nSimanungkalit said police had yet to identify the criminals. He
