'Road Show 1997' to begin today<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Fifteen private companies will hold a four-day
\nworkshop for graduates and final year students of Atma Jaya
\nCatholic University beginning today.<\/p>\n
The workshop, called \"Road Show 1997\", will include
\npresentations and recruitment tests.<\/p>\n
It is the result of close links between the companies and the
\nuniversity. Many of the university's graduates fill executive
\npositions at banks, insurance and automotive companies.<\/p>\n
The firms are Bank Lippo, Matahari Group, United Tractor, Bank
\nDanamon, Bali InBank, Pharos Indonesia, Bank Central Asia, PT
\nAstra Internasional, Bank Aspac, Bank Bira, PT Altrak 1978, BDNI
\nLife, PT Asuransi Dayin Mitra and PT Federal Motor.<\/p>\n
Kartono, a senior branch officer of Bira Bank, officially
\nopened the program on campus Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\"The presentation includes a question and answer session for
\nstudents on important things related to a recruitment test.\"<\/p>\n
The workshop on \"How to pass a recruitment test\" will be
\npresented by Bank Universal Monday. The presentations and
\nrecruitment tests will be held by the other 14 companies from
\nTuesday to Thursday.<\/p>\n
The university's deputy to the rector in charge of academic
\naffairs, Yohanes Temaluru, said the program was organized to help
\nprivate companies find qualified and highly dedicated personnel.<\/p>\n
He said Atma Jaya had closely cooperated with private
\ncompanies including PT. Astra since 1994 to provide on-the-job-
\ntraining for its students and to meet the demand for qualified
\ngraduates.<\/p>\n
Sudirgo Wibowo, the dean of Atma Jaya's Faculty of Psychology,
\ncalled on the companies to intensify cooperation in scientific
\nresearch projects.<\/p>\n
He said private companies lack commitment in working with
\nuniversities on research projects, the results of which could be
