        "content": "<p>River transportation abandoned<\/p>\n<p>MARTAPURA, South Kalimantan: Residents of Mekar Sari village,<br>\nKertak Hanyar district, Banjar regency have gradually moved over<br>\nto using ground transportation, rather than boats.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesman for Banjar regency Syahda Mariadi said here on<br>\nThursday that the main modes of transportation in Kalimantan in<br>\ngeneral were mostly boats and rafts.<\/p>\n<p>\"But since the beginning of the 1990s, when the government<br>\ndeveloped and constructed roads, people, especially the Mekar<br>\nSari villagers, turned to ground transportation for their daily<br>\nactivities, which include selling crop produce,\" Syahda said.<\/p>\n<p>The road development and construction project in the village<br>\ncontinues, he said, citing that a 700-meter road would be jointly<br>\nbuilt by locals and Army members.<\/p>\n<p>\"The project started on Oct. 17 when some 100 Army personnel<br>\narrived in the village,\" he said. --Antara<\/p>",
