One of the defendants in the case involving allegations of forged\ncredentials of former President Joko Widodo, Rismon Sianipar, visited\nthe former president\u2019s residence on Thursday afternoon, 12 March 2026.\nRismon came to offer an apology.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course I apologise to Jokowi. I also apologise to the public,\nespecially to the parties involved such as Jokowi,\u201d said Rismon when met\nby journalists after visiting Jokowi at his residence in Sumber.<\/p>\n
Rismon disclosed the latest developments in his research concerning\nJokowi\u2019s diploma. He also admitted feeling hurt by findings from his\nfurther research that confirmed the authenticity of Jokowi\u2019s UGM\ndiploma.<\/p>\n
\u201cI must be honest in stating that my findings will be criticised,\ninsulted, and labelled as betrayal. But research is research, and\nresearch can test research results,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, his research findings had been submitted to\ninvestigators at the Jakarta Metro Police\u2019s Regional Headquarters\napproximately one week earlier.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, that answer should be answered using methodology. Not through\nnarrative claims that it is forged or authentic. Through methodology,\nyes, it must be answered and it must be objective,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that there were no irregularities regarding digital\nmanipulation as concluded in Jokowi\u2019s White Paper book.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe authenticity of this diploma is preserved, and it has even hurt\nme as a researcher as well. But truth sometimes hurts. Truth can be\npainful. That is what I conveyed to the investigators and to the\ndirector of the criminal investigation division. Not out of fear,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Rismon\u2019s legal representative, Jahmada Girsang, explained that the\nmeeting between his client and Jokowi took place in a friendly\natmosphere. He explained that the meeting was related to efforts to\nresolve the case concerning the report filed by Jokowi on 30 April\n2025.<\/p>\n
According to Jahmada, his client met with Jokowi first, followed by\nhim a few minutes later. He arrived after preparing food brought as part\nof Batak ethnic tradition.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal is indeed to resolve this case, particularly between Rismon\nand Pak Jokowi regarding the report from 30 April last year,\u201d said\nJahmada.<\/p>\n
He explained that during the meeting, he also presented an\nexplanation regarding the conditions and mechanisms for case resolution\nthrough restorative justice. One of the main requirements in this\nmechanism is mutual forgiveness between the two parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat are the conditions of the RJ mechanism? There must be mutual\nforgiveness. That is what we conveyed. We have also prepared a written\nconcept for it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Jahmada added that the process would continue, particularly to\ncomplete the administrative requirements necessary for the case\nresolution mechanism. He described the atmosphere of the meeting as\nfairly relaxed. Both parties even had casual conversations and laughed\ntogether during the meeting.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe meeting was quite friendly. We even laughed inside. Especially\napproaching Ramadan like this, the atmosphere was exactly as we hoped,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
Rismon added that during the meeting he gave Jokowi food called\nnaniarsik and ulos. He noted that in Batak tradition, the giving of\nnaniarsik is a form of respect.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe regard Pak Jokowi as a respected person, and there was peace\ntoday. (Besides food\/naniarsik?), there is ulos,\u201d said Rismon.<\/p>\n
Jokowi has not yet issued a statement regarding his meeting with\nRismon. The father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka briefly\ngreeted journalists when leaving his residence and asked whether they\nhad broken their fast.<\/p>\n
