The controversy surrounding Jokowi\u2019s diploma has entered a new phase.\nRismon Sianipar, who previously believed the former President of\nIndonesia\u2019s diploma was inauthentic, has now revealed his latest\nfindings. According to Rismon, these findings were obtained after\nconducting further research on Joko Widodo\u2019s UGM diploma.<\/p>\n
According to Rismon, following this further research, no\nirregularities were found regarding the authenticity of the document.\nThis conclusion was reached after he reviewed the research methodology\nhe had previously written about in his book Jokowi\u2019s White Paper.<\/p>\n
Rismon stated that over the past approximately two months he has\ncontinued independent study by re-examining the methodology he used in\nthe book. According to him, the majority of the book\u2019s\ncontent\u2014approximately 480 pages out of more than 700 pages\ntotal\u2014contained explanations of the research methodology written\nindependently without connection to other authors such as Roy Suryo or\nTifauzia Tyassuma, known as Doctor Tifa.<\/p>\n
Rismon, Roy Suryo, and Doctor Tifa have consistently stated that\nJokowi\u2019s UGM diploma is not authentic. All three have been designated as\nsuspects in a defamation and hate speech case related to allegations of\na fraudulent diploma, which was reported by Jokowi to the Jakarta Metro\nPolice headquarters last year.<\/p>\n
They face charges under Articles 310 and\/or 311 of the Criminal Code,\nas well as Articles 32(1) read together with 48(1), 35 read together\nwith 51(1), 27A read together with 45(4), and\/or 28(2) read together\nwith 45A(2) of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law.<\/p>\n
In this further research, Rismon identified several features on\nJokowi\u2019s analogue diploma that were displayed during the court hearing,\nincluding watermarks and embossing. He then compared these findings with\nphotographs of the diploma posted on social media by an account\nbelonging to Dian Sandi Utama, as well as with comparison documents from\ngraduates of the same year at UGM.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on my further research, I state that there are indeed\nwatermarks and embossing that are consistent with the documents I saw\nduring the special court hearing,\u201d Rismon said when met by journalists\nafter meeting with Jokowi at his residence in Sumber, Banjarsari\nDistrict, Solo, Central Java, on Thursday afternoon, 12 March 2026.<\/p>\n
He explained that no hologram was found on the diploma because during\nthat graduation period UGM had not yet used this feature as a document\nsecurity measure. Rismon also mentioned that he had compared the\nwatermark and embossing patterns with other documents from the same year\nand found consistency in their shape and location.<\/p>\n
Additionally, he re-examined the issue regarding the stamp imprint\ntrajectory that was previously thought to be invisible in digital\nphotographs of the diploma. According to him, the absence of this\nelement in images circulating on social media was caused by limitations\nin the analytical variables he had previously used.<\/p>\n
Rismon acknowledged that in his initial research he had not included\ngeometric variables such as rotation, translation, and lighting in the\ndigital image analysis process. After these variables were incorporated\nin the reconstruction of the latest research, certain elements on the\ndocument, including colour and stamp marks, could reappear.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fatal error I made was not involving geometric operations such\nas rotation, translation, and lighting in the previous analysis,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
He stated that the results of the latest research were submitted to\nthe Police Region (Polda) Metro Jaya investigators approximately a week\nago. Rismon believed that these findings should be presented openly as a\nform of scientific responsibility by a researcher, even though they\ncould potentially draw criticism from various parties.<\/p>\n
According to him, research must be based on methodology that is\nacademically accountable, rather than merely narrative or opinion. \u201cThe\nconclusion of my latest research is that there are no irregularities\nregarding the authenticity of President Jokowi\u2019s diploma,\u201d Rismon\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Rismon also stated that his visit to Jokowi\u2019s residence on Thursday,\n12 March 2026 was intended to deliver an apology directly, not only to\nthose involved but also to the public.
