JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The ongoing rise in societal mobility is
driving the need for broader travel protection, not only for
international journeys but also for domestic ones. Amid these changes,
the insurance industry is increasingly relying on technology to expand
reach and simplify service access for customers. PT Asuransi MSIG
Indonesia is reinforcing this approach by strengthening its travel
insurance products through a regional partnership with Ancileo, a
Singapore-based travel insurance technology company. Through this
partnership, travel insurance products are offered directly during the
travel booking process, whether via airlines, online travel agents
(OTAs), or other platforms. This method allows protection to be obtained
simultaneously as consumers plan their trips. The role of technology in
this integration is considered crucial, particularly in connecting
travel booking systems with insurance services. This approach is also
seen as aligning with the characteristics of the Indonesian market,
which is still dominated by domestic travel. Data from the Central
Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the number of domestic tourist trips
in February 2026 reached approximately 91.14 million trips, an increase
compared to the same period the previous year. This figure reflects the
high level of domestic travel activity, which is the primary driver of
societal mobility. Vice President Director of MSIG Indonesia, Bernardus
P Wanandi, stated that changes in Indonesians’ travel patterns reflect
an increasingly dynamic lifestyle. “Changes in Indonesians’ travel
patterns are a reflection of an increasingly dynamic lifestyle. The need
for travel protection has also evolved, now no longer only relevant for
international trips but increasingly important for everyday domestic
journeys. MSIG Indonesia is committed to continuing as a trusted partner
that provides easily accessible, innovative protection solutions
offering peace of mind on every trip,” said Bernardus in his statement
on Monday (4/5/2026). In addition to mobility factors, developments in
distribution models are also driving the growth of travel insurance.
",
