        "content": "<p>Riot erupts after legislator misses flight<\/p>\n<p>JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: An airport in Irian Jaya remained closed on<br>\nTuesday because it was occupied by dozens of violent protesters<br>\nafter a local senior legislator missed his flight.<\/p>\n<p>The riot erupted on Monday night with protesters burning tires<br>\non the runway of Wamena airport in Jayawijaya regency, sparking<br>\ntension in the town.<\/p>\n<p>At least two people were seriously injured when police fired<br>\nshots at them.<\/p>\n<p>Local human rights activist Aloysius Renwarin said one of the<br>\nvictims was the driver of Wamena&apos;s deputy legislative council<br>\nspeaker, Gerald Logowan.<\/p>\n<p>Renwarin said the violence was sparked after Logowan missed a<br>\nflight to Jayapura, the capital of Irian Jaya, on Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The legislator had to return home because he had left<br>\nsomething behind.
