Rinjani Trek Center to open<\/p>\n
MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: Head of the province's tourism
\narts and culture, Tjok Suthendra Rai, said here on Thursday that
\nthe Governor of West Nusa Tenggara would inaugurate the Rinjani
\nTrek Center located in Senaru village on the slopes of Mount
\nRinjani, West Lombok.<\/p>\n
\"The Rinjani Trek Center is a joint project between the
\nIndonesian and New Zealand government. It represents their mutual
\nfriendship and concern in developing the ecology and tourism of
\nthe area,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He revealed the New Zealand government would provide
\nassistance in the layout of the national park, located 85
\nkilometers from the city of Mataram, making it more accessible.<\/p>\n
The New Zealand-sponsored project is also expected to be well
\nmaintained and to become an information center for guides and
\nforeign tourists wishing to explore the scenic park.<\/p>\n
The volcanic area, with its magnificent crater and hot water
\nsprings is one of the province's top tourist attractions and is
\nconsidered sacred by the native Sasak tribe and Hindus from
