        "content": "<p>Ringgit won't be repegged<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones): Malaysia has no intention of<br>\naltering the ringgit's peg to the dollar and the country will<br>\nremain competitive with this exchange rate, Finance Minister Daim<br>\nZainuddin told finance ministers of the Association of Southeast<br>\nAsian Nations Saturday, a Malaysian official who declined to be<br>\nidentified said.<\/p>\n<p>The ringgit peg will remain in place based on the country's<br>\nfundamentals and to ensure certainty and predictability, Daim<br>\nsaid, according to the official.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia is confident its exports will remain competitive,<br>\nDaim added. Daim pointed to China, which hasn't revalued its<br>\ncurrency, despite the fact that many currencies in the region<br>\nhave weakened against the dollar.<\/p>\n<p>Aggregate trade accounts for more than 80 percent of gross<br>\ndomestic product in most Asian countries. More than 50 percent of<br>\nMalaysian exports are comprised of electrical and electronic<br>\ngoods, and manufacturers are feeling the pinch of slowing global<br>\ndemand.<\/p>",
