Ring road safety questioned<\/p>\n

As a user of the Serpong-Kampung Rambutan Jakarta Outer Ring
\nRoad (JORR), I feel concerned about the presence of lots of dead
\nanimals on the road along the Serpong-Pondok Ranji section of the
\nturnpike.<\/p>\n
The dead animals, mostly cats and dogs run over by cars, can
\nbe seen almost everyday. They disrupt traffic and endanger the
\nlives of drivers trying to avoid the carcasses by changing lanes.
\nThey are also unpleasant to look at.<\/p>\n
This section of road is not illuminated at night so that road
\nusers have to rely on their own headlights. In fact, it was
\npreviously lit up but the lights were turned off following this
\nyear's fuel price hikes.<\/p>\n
In addition, people frequently cross the turnpike, thus
\nfurther endangering road users, and themselves. Therefore, the
\nmanagement of JORR -- which has some of the most expensive tolls
\nin the country -- should give priority to user safety.<\/p>\n
Banners along the road boast of the availability of
\nambulances, regular patrols, tow trucks and other facilities. But
\nwhat about safeguards such as proper road signs and lights: Are
\nthese at the bottom of the list of priorities?<\/p>\n
