Ridwan wins Kapolri Cup but below best<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Southeast Asian (SEA) Games marksman Ridwan
\nGunawan failed to equal his personal best at the seventh Kapolri
\nCup and 1997 Bhayangkara Cup at the Senayan Shooting Range
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Despite winning the gold medal, Ridwan, who competed for the
\nBimantara club, scored 1,110 in the men's small bore free rifle
\nthree position, well below his best of 1,133.<\/p>\n
SEA Games sharpshooters Arie Setiamoko from the Timor club was
\nsecond with 1,102 points, while Gatot Puspoyudo from Bimantara
\nfinished third with 1,087 points.<\/p>\n
Indonesian shooters have to work harder to win gold in this
\nevent at the SEA Games because their scores were a long way off
\nthe Games record of 1,143, set by Filipino Emerito in 1991.<\/p>\n
In the men's individual standard pistol, Siswanto from
\nBimantara won with 543 points, followed by Joko Wisunu from the
\nKartika club with 541 points and Alfian Sitompul from the
\nDewaruci club with 540 points.<\/p>\n
Siswanto failed to equal the national record of 562, which
\nWisnu Suharyono set at the 1990 Asia championships in Beijing.<\/p>\n
The SEA Games record of 573 belongs to Thailand's Peera P. who
\nset it in 1991.<\/p>\n
In the men's team standard pistol, the Kartika club took gold
\nwith 1596, a long way behind Thailand's 1991 SEA Games record of
\n1706.<\/p>\n
The Kartika club, comprising national marksmen Hari Kiswanto,
\nMukroni and Joko Wisunu, was trailed by the Bimantara club,
\ncomprising Andi Hendrata, Siswanto and Hans Wibowo, with 1579.<\/p>\n
The police squad of I Ketut Sudiana, I Made Bawa and Victor
\nPudjiadi was third with 1558.<\/p>\n
So far, no shooters being groomed for the SEA Games have set
