        "content": "<p>Riau Province has again received an additional water bombing\nhelicopter for forest and land fires (Karhutla) from the National\nDisaster Management Agency (BNPB). The helicopter has landed at Sultan\nSyarif Kasim (SSK) II Airport in Pekanbaru, bringing the total number of\nhelicopters on standby for Karhutla management in Riau to six.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Prevention and Preparedness at the Riau Regional Disaster\nManagement and Fire Service (BPBD Damkar), Khoiril Fahmi, stated that\nthe additional water bombing helicopter is an Mi-8 type. \u201cRiau Province\nhas again received assistance in the form of one water bombing\nhelicopter from BNPB. The helicopter is now in Pekanbaru,\u201d he said on\nSunday (21\/6).<\/p>\n<p>With this addition, Riau now has six helicopters for Karhutla\noperations, comprising five water bombing helicopters and one patrol\nhelicopter. \u201cNow there are six helicopters, five water bombing and one\npatrol,\u201d he confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The presence of these helicopters will significantly aid firefighting\nefforts in Riau, especially in locations difficult for ground teams to\nreach. \u201cWe will use this water bombing helicopter to extinguish Karhutla\nin areas inaccessible to ground teams, so that fires can be put out more\nquickly before they spread,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the central government\u2019s support through BNPB\ndemonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining regional preparedness\nfor this year\u2019s dry season. With a more complete fleet, the response to\nemerging hotspots is expected to be faster and more effective. \u201cWe\ncontinue to enhance preparedness.
