Riau Regional Police have seized a number of assets from two suspects\nin a money laundering case related to the trade in Sumatran elephant\nivory in Pelalawan. The assets include cash amounting to hundreds of\nmillions of rupiah and several vehicles.<\/p>\n
The evidence was displayed during a press conference at the Riau\nPolice Headquarters on Thursday (11\/6\/2026), including stacks of cash\ntotalling Rp650 million.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom tracing the proceeds of this money laundering, investigators\nsuccessfully seized a number of items strongly suspected to be derived\nfrom the profits of the elephant ivory trade. The seized evidence\nincludes Rp650,000,000 in cash, one unit of heavy machinery in the form\nof an excavator, one Mitsubishi Triton vehicle, and one Suzuki Splash\nvehicle,\u201d explained Riau Police Special Criminal Investigation Director,\nSenior Commissioner Ade Kuncoro Wahyu, in a statement on Friday\n(12\/6).<\/p>\n
In this case, Riau Police have named two suspects. The cash exceeding\nhalf a billion rupiah was seized from suspect FA. \u201cThe four-wheeled\nvehicles were seized from suspect FS, while the Rp650 million in cash\nand the heavy machinery were seized from suspect FA,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
In addition to physical assets, investigators also seized documents\nincluding one bundle of a BCA bank current account statement under the\nname FA, one bundle of a BCA bank current account statement under the\nname HY, one bundle of a BCA bank current account statement under the\nname FS, one bundle of fiduciary collateral for the Mitsubishi Triton\nvehicle, one bundle of contract specifications for PT ZIHI, and one\ninvoice sheet as proof of ownership.<\/p>\n
Ade Kuncoro stated that both suspects disguised the wealth obtained\nfrom the wildlife trafficking crime. Based on the investigation results,\nit was discovered that suspect FA had been involved in elephant ivory\nhunting and trading activities from 2014 until his eventual capture in\n2026. \u201cThis illegal activity was driven through a wildlife trafficking\nnetwork controlled by suspect FS,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Analysis of financial transactions revealed a flow of funds closely\nlinked to the trade in elephant ivory and other protected wildlife. The\nflow of funds reached billions of rupiah. \u201cInvestigators discovered\ntransactions amounting to Rp1,872,000,000 received by FA from HY through\n34 transactions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Ade Kuncoro noted that the funds originated from the sale of elephant\nivory sent by FS, AC, and AR. \u201cSuspect FA is a repeat offender who has\nbeen entangled in similar cases several times, most recently in 2019,\u201d\nhe stated.<\/p>\n
Within this elephant poaching network, FA was tasked with supplying\nlogistics and providing capital to the hunters in the field.
