The Riau Regional Police has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating\nnarcotics abuse, which is seen as one of the root causes of security\nissues in the Panipahan area, Rokan Hilir Regency.<\/p>\n
Riau Police Chief, Inspector General Herry Heryawan, stated that\nimprovement efforts in the area target not only internal police aspects\nbut are also directed towards strengthening the overall war on\ndrugs.<\/p>\n
\u201cDrug handling cannot be done in an ordinary manner. We are taking\nfirm steps by forming an Anti-Narcotics Task Force that operates in an\nintegrated manner, both in terms of enforcement and internal\nsupervision,\u201d said the Police Chief on Tuesday (14\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to him, the formation of this task force is part of a\nzero-tolerance strategy against narcotics circulation, while also\nensuring no room for deviations, either in society or within the\napparatus.<\/p>\n
As a follow-up step, the Riau Regional Police is also conducting a\ncomprehensive evaluation of personnel performance at the Panipahan\nPolice Sector. The evaluation involves internal supervisory functions\nsuch as Itwasda and Propam, as well as through the Wanjak process.<\/p>\n
From the evaluation results, it was decided to carry out a major\nrotation of several personnel, from officer to member levels, as part of\norganisational restructuring and institutional strengthening. \u201cWe want\nto ensure that every personnel on duty has integrity and sensitivity to\nfield issues, especially in dealing with drug threats that directly\nimpact society,\u201d said Herry.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that this rotation step is part of a corrective and\npreventive strategy, so that police services can run more optimally and\nresponsively to security dynamics.<\/p>\n
In a broader context, the Riau Regional Police is also promoting a\ncollaborative approach with various parties, including the Riau\nProvincial National Narcotics Agency, to strengthen prevention efforts.\nOne concrete step being prepared is to promote Panipahan as a Drug-Free\nZone (Bersinar), through strengthening community social resilience.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is not just about law enforcement, but how to build collective\nawareness in society to reject and fight drugs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Riau Regional Police will also involve community\nfigures, youth, and local communities as anti-drug ambassadors to expand\nthe reach of education and prevention campaigns. \u201cWe want this movement\nto be a joint movement. The war on drugs must involve all elements of\nsociety,\u201d the Police Chief stressed.<\/p>\n
