Riau Regional Police (Polda) held a Pre-Operation Exercise (Latihan\nPra Operasi) for Operation Lancang Kuning 2026. The activity was\nconducted to ensure personnel readiness for Operation Lancang Kuning\nahead of celebrations marking the Islamic New Year 1447 H\/2026 M.<\/p>\n
The exercise was led directly by Riau Police Chief Inspector General\nHerry Heryawan at the Tri Brata Auditorium of Riau Regional Police\nHeadquarters on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. The humanitarian operation is\nscheduled to run for 13 days, from 13\u201325 March 2026, with primary focus\non securing the exodus of travellers during the holiday period and\nmaintaining public order and security amid global dynamics.<\/p>\n
In his address, the Riau Police Chief emphasised the importance of\nmonitoring the global geopolitical situation, particularly conflicts in\nthe Middle East that have impacted energy distribution routes. The\nPolice Chief highlighted the phenomenon of long queues at several petrol\nstations and shortages of Biosolar, Pertalite, and Pertamax fuel types\nbeing experienced by the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cRiau is a major oil-producing region with vital national assets such\nas the Rokan Block and distribution in Dumai. We must be able to\nanticipate this situation through intensive security and monitoring to\nprevent panic buying,\u201d said Inspector General Herry.<\/p>\n
The Police Chief instructed district police chiefs to devise queuing\nsystems to prevent panic buying. He also commended the Siak District\nPolice Chief and Rokan Hilir District Police Chief for moving swiftly to\nenforce regulations and conduct public outreach regarding fuel\ndistribution in their respective areas.<\/p>\n
\u201cI request all units to develop a quick response system. If long\nqueues or certain situations occur, there must be certainty regarding\nhow long it takes officers to respond and arrive at the location,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
During the exercise opening, the Police Chief conveyed six\ninstructional points to all participants. First, personnel were asked to\nprepare themselves physically and mentally for the operation\u2019s\nexecution.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecond, continue to strengthen synergy to build robust collaboration\nwith regional government, the military, and relevant agencies,\nparticularly Pertamina Patra Niaga,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also instructed units to directly monitor petrol stations, oil\ncompanies, and distribution routes to ensure no speculation or hoarding\noccurs that could impact security stability.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrioritise professionalism and act proportionally and\nsystematically. Prioritise a humanitarian approach in providing friendly\nservice to the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also emphasised the importance of heightened vigilance to\nanticipate potential terrorist threats. The Police Chief instructed\nunits to strengthen security measures at police headquarters.<\/p>\n
