Riau farmers stage protest<\/p>\n
PEKANBARU, Riau: Angry protesters from the Farmers Action
\nFront for Justice staged a protest outside Riau Governor HM
\nRusli's residence on Wednesday, breaking down the fence in the
\nprocess.<\/p>\n
The protesters, comprising some 70 farmers from Tambusai
\nTimur, Kepayang, Kepenuhan Hulu and Pekan Tebih villages in Rokan
\nHulu regency, became upset when they were unable to meet the
\ngovernor.<\/p>\n
The farmers were demanding the governor cancel the permit of
\nPT Panca Surya Agrindo because it took over their land. They also
\ndemanded the police make the company return their land and arrest
\ncompany executives responsible for an incident on Nov. 20 in
\nwhich three farmers were killed.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred when farmers clashed with security
