Investigators from the Corruption Crime Unit (Unit Tipikor) of the\nPelalawan Police\u2019s Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) in Riau have\nformally detained suspect Sunardi. The Pelalawan DPRD member from the\nGolkar faction is detained on suspicion of deliberately using someone\nelse\u2019s diploma to become a participant in the 2024 Legislative\nElections.<\/p>\n
\u2018Indeed, the suspect Sunardi has been detained,\u2019 said Pelalawan\nPolice Chief AKBP John Letedara on Wednesday, 4 March, as quoted by\ndetikSumut. John confirmed Sunardi was detained after undergoing further\nquestioning as a suspect last week. Sunardi arrived accompanied by his\nlegal counsel.<\/p>\n
\u2018He has undergone further questioning as a suspect. He was\nimmediately detained by the investigative team,\u2019 John said.<\/p>\n
Sunardi was named a suspect in mid-January 2026. The designation\nfollowed a lengthy investigation carried out by the Satreskrim\ninvestigative team of the Pelalawan Police.<\/p>\n
Sunardi faces charges under Article 263(2) of the Indonesian Penal\nCode (use of false or forged documents) or Article 391(2) of Law No.\u00a01\nof 2023 on criminal law (use of false documents as if genuine).<\/p>\n
The investigative team from Tipikor Satreskrim Polres Pelalawan will\nsoon hand over the case file (BAP) to the Pelalawan Kejari, ensuring the\nfake-diploma case proceeds to trial soon.<\/p>\n
Previously, John said the diploma Sunardi used belonged to another\nperson. It was used for personal reasons to participate in the 2024\nelections, ultimately resulting in his seat as a Pelalawan DPRD member\nfrom the Golkar party.<\/p>\n
\u2018This relates to a fake diploma; the diploma Sunardi used was a\ndifferent person\u2019s for a Paket C credential. For now, he is not detained\nas he is due to be summoned again next week,\u2019 he said some time ago.<\/p>\n
Sunardi\u2019s diploma has been a matter of dispute for several years\nbecause the diploma used to stand for public office is alleged to be\nfake or belong to someone else.<\/p>\n
Sunardi remains an active member of the Pelalawan DPRD. He was\nelected from the Golkar faction for Pelalawan 3 electoral district.<\/p>\n
