The Riau Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) has released\na number of wild animals into the Zamrud National Park conservation\narea, located in Siak Regency, Riau Province. The released animals\nconsist of both protected and unprotected species.<\/p>\n
The activity was led directly by the Head of BBKSDA Riau, Supartono.\nThe release was also attended by the Siak Police Chief, the Head of the\nSiak Regency Environmental Office, and the Operational Director of the\nAnimal Rescue Centre (PPS) of the Arsari Djojohadikusumo Foundation.<\/p>\n
Supartono stated that the release of wildlife is a tangible form of\nthe government\u2019s commitment to maintaining wildlife conservation and\nrestoring populations in their natural habitats.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe animals being released are the result of rescues and handovers\nfrom the community. All these animals have undergone a quarantine\nprocess, health checks including zoonotic disease screening, and natural\nbehaviour assessments at the Arsari Djojohadikusumo Foundation\u2019s PPS\nbefore being recommended for release,\u201d said Supartoni on Thursday\nnight.<\/p>\n
The released animals include wild cats, binturongs, slow lorises,\ngibbons, white-bellied sea eagles, and crested serpent eagles, which are\nprotected species. Additionally, macaques and long-tailed monkeys, which\nare classified as unprotected species, were also released.<\/p>\n
According to Supartono, successful conservation requires the\ninvolvement of many parties. Efforts to protect wildlife and their\nhabitats cannot be undertaken by BBKSDA Riau and the Ministry of\nForestry alone, but also require support from the police, local\ngovernments, and the private sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe success of conservation cannot be achieved by the BBKSDA Riau\nand the Ministry of Forestry alone; support from the Police, Local\nGovernment, and the Private Sector is greatly needed,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Zamrud National Park is one of the conservation areas in Riau\nProvince that possesses high biodiversity. This area also serves as a\nhabitat for various types of wildlife.<\/p>\n
The release of animals in the area is expected to support the\nsustainability of wildlife populations and maintain the ecosystem\nbalance sustainably.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet us work together to preserve protected wildlife and ensure the\nsecurity of their living space,\u201d said Supartono.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Siak Regency Government, through the Head of the Siak\nRegency Environmental Office, Amin Soimin, expressed support for efforts\nin nature protection, rescue, and preservation.<\/p>\n
Amin stated that this support is implemented through community\nsocialisation activities and efforts to establish cooperation with other\npartners to support the management of Zamrud National Park.<\/p>\n
The Siak Police Chief, AKB Sepuh Siregar, also conveyed his support\nand commitment to environmental preservation.
