RI trains 86 countries<\/p>\n
MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: Indonesia's family planning
\nprogram is being used as a model by 86 countries, according to a
\nsenior official of the National Family Planning Board.<\/p>\n
The deputy of the board's Planning and Analysis division,
\nSardin Pabbadja, said yesterday that 96 percent of African
\ncountries have followed the Communication, Information and
\nEducation (KIE) program and it had been very successful in
\nMexico, Tunisia and Thailand.<\/p>\n
Sardin told Antara that Indonesia's success in family planning
\nhas gained international recognition. Thailand and Indonesia are
\nthe program's regional representatives for Asia, while Tunisia
\nrepresents Africa and Mexico represents Latin America.<\/p>\n
He said the program's success was due to good public
\ndevelopment, government participation and support from the top to
\nthe lower ranks.<\/p>\n
\"This differs in other countries where the program usually
\nreaches the regency level, making proper information difficult to
\nreach even by the lowest end user,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Sardin said the family planning programs will change as
\nmothers, especially those in rural areas, become more aware of
\nparticular contraception methods and demand better medical
\nservice.<\/p>\n
\"Twenty years ago, mothers in the villages merely accepted
\nthis without further questioning but the situation today is much
