Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Trade relations between Indonesia and Thailand have shown an upward trend in recent years, a Thai official said.<\/p>\n
Two-way trade reached US$11.734 million in 2008, an increase of 33 percent from a year earlier, Thai Minister Counsellor Officer of Commercial Affairs Supawadee Yamgamol said here Thursday.<\/p>\n
\"Thailand has been successful in producing `halal` food for the international market and Indonesia is one of our market,\" he said at the opening of the Thai product expo at the Jakarta Convention centre.<\/p>\n
All Thai foods were produced under tight surveillance by the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand, he said.<\/p>\n
In addition, Thai food products had received formal appreciation for their halal specifications widely known by the global Muslim community, he said.<\/p>\n
Thailand`s exports to Indonesia included motor vehicles, accessories, chemicals, sugar, rice, machinery, iron, steel, cosmetics, and air conditioners.<\/p>\n
A total of 81 companies are taking part in the \"Made in Thailand Exhibition 2009\".
\n\"The objective of this activity is to introduce Thai products of high quality to Indonesian consumers,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Among the Thai products displayed at the expo are fresh fruits, foods, beverages, jewelry, fashion accessories, garments, textiles, and cosmetics.
