RI, S'pore to hold joint expo<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia and Singapore will hold a joint
\nexhibition from Sept. 21 to Sept. 27 at the Singapore
\nInternational Exhibition and Convention Center, Minister of
\nIndustry Tunky Ariwibowo said yesterday.<\/p>\n
\"This event, which will cost US$1.39 million, is being
\nconducted to commemorate Indonesia's 50th independence
\nanniversary and Singapore's 30th anniversary,\" Tunky said, adding
\nthat both countries will share half of the exhibition's costs.<\/p>\n
The showcase, called Joint Exhibition Indonesia-Singapore
\n1995, will be opened by President Soeharto and Singapore Prime
\nMinister Goh Chok Tong on Sept. 21.<\/p>\n
\"Indonesia and Singapore will exhibit developments of their
\ncooperation projects, especially in Riau, at the joint
\nexhibition,\" he said.<\/p>\n
The event will also coincide with the World Economic Forum
\n1995 Europe\/East Asia Economic Summit, which will be held from
\nSept. 21 to Sept. 22, where President Soeharto will deliver his
\nkeynote speech.<\/p>\n
\"Indonesia can take advantage of the forum, which will be
\nattended by 500 business people worldwide,\" Tunky said.<\/p>\n
During the exhibition, Indonesia will be supported by 57
\ncompanies, representing businesses in, among others, electronics,
\nbanking, furniture, aircraft industry, mining, cement, tourism,
\ntelecommunication, construction and electricity.<\/p>\n
Singapore will present three main sectors: transportation and
\ntelecommunication, electronics and services.(31)<\/p>",
