RI only to join UN-backed forces<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Indonesia would only be interested in joining a UN-
\nled peacekeeping force in Afghanistan and not one organized by a
\ncoalition of willing nations, senior government ministers said on
\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda said that UN
\nmember countries had considered establishing a multinational
\nforce in Afghanistan or a force comprised of willing countries
\nlike the U.S., Japan and the United Kingdon.<\/p>\n
If such a force were established, Indonesia would not be
\ninterested in joining it, Hassan said.<\/p>\n
The coalition will be discussed in Berlin next week by
\ncountries meeting to consider a broad-based future Afghan
\ngovernment.<\/p>\n
Another choice is establishing a UN peacekeeping force, which
\ncould take six or seven months, Hassan said.<\/p>\n
\"Since Afghanistan needs urgent help, the UN has considered
\nestablishing a coalition of willing nations,\" Hassan said.<\/p>\n

\nSusilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that Indonesia would wait for a
\ncomprehensive solution to the Afghanistan conflict before
