RI, Norway boost energy ties<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian and Norwegian governments have
\ndecided to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector,
\na senior Indonesian government official said on Monday.<\/p>\n
Director General of Oil and Natural Gas Rachmat Sudibyo said
\nIndonesia was interested in particular with Norway's technical
\nexpertise in the oil and gas sector.<\/p>\n
\"Norway has vast maritime experience in the energy sector,
\nwhich Indonesia as an archipelago needs,\" Rachmat said on the
\nsidelines of the Second Indonesia -- Norway Bilateral Energy
\nConsultation.<\/p>\n
The consultation meeting ended on Monday with the agreement to
\ndevelop ties between state oil and gas research center Lemigas
\nand Norway's Geolab Nor and between state-owned electricity
\ncompany PT PLN and Norway's Statkraft.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, participants discussed the Indonesian
\nenergy situation, its current challenges, as well as the
\nNorwegian oil and gas sector, its development, management and
\npolicies.<\/p>\n
Participants also completed five technical workshops related
\nto gas pipeline development, oil spills, geochemistry technology,
\ndeepwater and subsea technology and the power sector. (bkm)<\/p>",
