        "content": "<p>RI, Malaysia agree on border in Kalimantan<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): After 24 years of talks, Indonesia and Malaysia<br>\nhave finally agreed on more than half of the borderline drawn<br>\nbetween the Indonesian province of East Kalimantan and the<br>\nMalaysian state of Sarawak, Antara said.<\/p>\n<p>The chief of the Indonesian delegation to the talks, Feisal<br>\nTamin, and his Malaysian counterpart, Dato' Nik Mohd Zain bin<br>\nHaji Nik Yusof, signed a memorandum of understanding on 182.2<br>\nkilometers of the border on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The memorandum was the result of the 24th meeting of the<br>\nnational survey committee of West and East Kalimantan (Indonesia)<br>\nand of Sabah and Sarawak (Malaysia), held here on April 28<br>\nthrough April 30.<\/p>\n<p>The two ASEAN member countries, however, still have to discuss<br>\nanother 140 km of the border.<\/p>\n<p>\"We hope to tackle that during the 25th meeting in March or<br>\nApril 2000 in Malaysia,\" Feisal said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Feisal, Indonesian and Malaysian delegates have<br>\nbeen discussing the border every year since 1975.<\/p>\n<p>\"The joint survey on the border has been conducted step by<br>\nstep,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dato' Nik Mohd Zain bin Hj Nik Yusof expressed satisfaction<br>\nover the agreement, which he described as important for the two<br>\nnations to rid themselves of possible territorial problems in the<br>\nfuture.<\/p>",
