        "content": "<p>RI improves Taiwan office<\/p>\n<p>TAIPEI (AFP): Indonesia will expand and rename its office in<br>\nTaiwan in a bid to further strengthen economic and investment<br>\nties, local press reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce to Taipei will be renamed<br>\nthe Indonesian Economic and Trade Representative Office in Taipei<br>\nwhile its staff will be expanded to handle the rapidly increasing<br>\ntrade between the two countries, the Economic Daily News said.<\/p>\n<p>Ferry Yahya, the industrial director of the chamber, said the<br>\noffice would move to the center of the city from suburban Taipei<br>\nafter it is renamed.<\/p>\n<p>Achmad Kurniadi, investment director of the chamber, urged<br>\nTaiwanese private and state-run firms to step up investment in<br>\nIndonesia to keep ahead of their counterparts from South Korea,<br>\nJapan and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia is one of the three priority investment<br>\ndestinations, together with the Philippines and Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwanese investment in Indonesia in the first six months of<br>\n1994 shot up to US$2.41 billion, 100 times more than the $24.1<br>\nmillion in the same period last year.<\/p>",
