RI, Hungary pave way for cooperation<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda
\nand Hungarian Minister of Informatics and Communications Kalman
\nKovacs signed on Oct. 17 the Protocol of the First Session of the
\nJoint Commission on Economic Cooperation to pave the way for
\nbilateral economic cooperation.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian Embassy in Hungary said the joint commission
\nwould allow the two countries to cooperate in economic sectors
\nsuch as trade, technology, industry and energy, infrastructure
\nand investment, defense industry and technology, small and medium
\nenterprises, finance and banking, agriculture, science, research
\nand technology, and tourism.<\/p>\n
The first session of the joint commission will be held in
\nJakarta, but the embassy did not provide a date.<\/p>\n
The joint commission follows an earlier bilateral meeting
\nbetween Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and
\nHungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany in July, when they
\nsigned an agreement of economic cooperation.<\/p>\n
The embassy said in a statement that Indonesia had also
\noffered investment opportunities to Hungarian businessmen.<\/p>\n
Hassan and his Hungarian counterpart Ferenc Somogyi also
\nestablished a mechanism for bilateral consultations through a
\nmemorandum of understanding.<\/p>\n
The protocol was signed during a three-day visit to Hungary by
\nHassan from Oct. 17 to Oct. 19, during which he also met with
\nParliament Speaker Katalin Szili. -- JP<\/p>",
