MANILA, Philippines (AP): Top seed Xia Xuanze of China
\noverwhelmed Chun Sae-do of South Korea 15-8, 15-2 yesterday to
\nadvance into the round of 16 in the boys singles competition in
\nthe first Asian Junior Badminton Championship.<\/p>\n
Second-seeded Ignatius Rudy of Indonesia advanced by besting
\nSachin Ratti of India 15-5, 15-0. Third-seeded Taufik Hidayat of
\nIndonesia defeated Cai Yun of China, 15-5, 15-11, while Chen Hong
\nof China, who shares Hidayat's ranking, beat Arif Rosidi of
\nIndonesia 15-9, 15-6.<\/p>\n
In the girls competition, top seed Yu Hua of China beat Wong
\nMan-ching of Hong Kong 11-1, 11-0, while second-seeded Peng Juyu
\nof China outclassed Woo Pui Kuan of Malaysia 11-5, 11-5.<\/p>\n
In the boys doubles competition, the top-seeded pair of Chan
\nChong Ming and Jeremy Gan of Malaysia triumphed over Sri Lankans
\nChintika and Shudharham, 15-8, 15-7. Second-seeded Xuanze and
\nChen Hong of China won 15-1, 15-4 over Jalil Mahmud and Abhiut of
\nBangladesh.<\/p>\n
In the girls doubles, top-seeded Yang Wei and Gao Ling of
\nChina used only 37 minutes to beat A. Zalina and Z. Salma of
\nPakistan 15-2, 15-0.<\/p>\n
Second-seeded Lee Kyung-won and Park Seon-yeon of South Korea
\ndefeated India's Swetha and Radhka 15-2, 15-4.<\/p>\n
The competition, which began Monday, includes teams from
\nSingapore, Iran, Macau, India, the Philippines, Vietnam,
\nPakistan, Cambodia, Nepal, Burma, Bangladesh, Kazakstan and
\nSyria.<\/p>",
