RI-Finnish council's new boss<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian former Forestry Minister Djamaludin
\nSuryohadikusumo was elected chairman of the Indonesia-Finland
\nBusiness Council, in the council's annual general meeting on
\nThursday.<\/p>\n
The council said that Djamaludin, who served as a forestry
\nminister from 1993 to 1998, was awarded the High Decoration of
\nCommander of the Order of the Lion of Finland by Finland
\nPresident Martti Ahtisaari in December 1997. He achieved the
\ndistinction for his role as head of the forestry ministry and his
\ndedicated efforts in forestry cooperation between the two
\ncountries.<\/p>\n
In his inauguration speech, Djamaludin said he would be very
\npleased if Indonesian efforts to protect tropical forests from
\nchallenges and pressures in the future, could be achieved with
\nthe close cooperation of the Finnish government and Finnish
\nforest companies.<\/p>\n
The Indonesia-Finland Business Council was established in 1995
\nto bring Finnish business representatives together with their
\nIndonesian counterparts. (gis)<\/p>",
