RI eyes Senegal trade ties<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia is exploring the possibility of
\nestablishing trade ties with Senegal as part of efforts to expand
\nits trade with African countries.<\/p>\n
So far, the two countries had not had trade cooperation
\nagreement to enhance two-way trade, Chairman of the Indonesian
\nChamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Committee for Islamic
\nand Middle East countries, Muchrim Hakim, was quoted by
\nAntara as saying on Friday.<\/p>\n
The chamber would send a trade mission to the west African
\ncountry next month to explore trade and tourism potentials the
\ntwo countries could develop, he said.<\/p>\n
Through trade ties between the two countries, Indonesia could
\nimport iron ore, cotton and raw materials for fertilizers from
\nSenegal at lower prices, he said.<\/p>\n
He said among the Indonesian goods which had good market
\nprospects in Senegal were textiles, garments, shoes and household
\nutensils.<\/p>\n
To establish the trade ties with Senegal, Indonesia would seek
\nloans totaling US$ 100 million to US$ 150 million from the
\nIslamic Development Bank (IDB), he said.<\/p>",
