        "content": "<p>RI envoy to meet illegal workers<\/p>\n<p>CANBERRA: Indonesian officials will fly to the remote<br>\nterritory of Christmas Island on Thursday to meet 15 Indonesian<br>\njob-seekers who arrived illegally in Australia last week, the<br>\ngovernment said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian diplomat Mukhlis Yunus will interview the nine<br>\nwomen and six men and - if able to confirm their nationalities -<br>\nhelp them return home, the Indonesian Embassy in Australia said<br>\nin a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian navy discovered the 15 on March 4 on Ashmore<br>\nReef, 610 kilometers north of the Western Australian coastal city<br>\nof Broome. All held either Indonesian passports or other<br>\nIndonesian identity documents.<\/p>\n<p>The navy took them to Christmas Island, which lies just south<br>\nof Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>They told officials they&apos;d paid a people smuggler the<br>\nequivalent of US$750 each to be transported to Australia to work<br>\nas fruit pickers.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said Indonesia had been very<br>\nhelpful with the matter. -- AP<\/p>",
