RI cyclists earn medals at Asian C'ships<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's Kuala Lumpur 2001 Southeast Asian
\n(SEA) Games cyclists grabbed two silver medals and three bronze
\nmedals at the Asian Championships from July 7 to July 17 in
\nChinese Taipei.<\/p>\n
\"Our cyclists have performance well in track events, though,
\nthose in road race events have yet to improve their results,\"
\nsecretary general of the Indonesian Cycling Association (ISSI),
\nSofyan Ruzian told Antara on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\"In general, they have performed better than our competitors
\nin the SEA Games but we have to be careful with the Vietnamese
\nand Thai cyclists,\" he added.<\/p>\n
Silver medals were won by the women's 3,000-meter team pursuit
\nand point race events. Three bronze medals came from the women's
\n3,000-meter individual pursuit, elimination and Olympic sprint
\nevents.<\/p>\n
Although the men's cyclists failed to grab a medal, the 4,000-
\nmeter team pursuit of Teguh, Iwan Rahmat, Wawan Setyobudi, and
\nKohar clocked 4:31 minutes, which is better than the SEA Games
\nrecord of 4:40 minutes recorded by Malaysian cyclists. (nvn)<\/p>",
